Lily's playdough

Today I was learning to make a fingerprint with playdough.

I enjoyed putting my finger in the playdough because it was cold and squishy.

I found it challenging to see my fingerprint in the playdough.

My digital learning object shows about fingerprint with playdough.

Next time I would change change the playdough colour because maybe that will be easier to see if it isn't white.

I'm Ruby, a volunteer from SLJ.

I'm happy to see you playing around with playdough. Very cool. I didn't even know that you could get white playdough! Did you make it from scratch or did you buy it?

Great you gave it a whirl. I'm guessing that background image in the picture you have uploaded is a photo you have taken of all the fingerprints you made on the white playdough. Do you know, if you hadn't told me that it was fingerprints in playdough, I would have totally guessed that it was a close up image of the ocean floor! To me it looks like white sand that has been moved around by the oceans currents.

Keep exploring and posting your mahi here, I look forward to seeing more from you.

    Ngā mihi,
    Ruby

  2. Kia ora Lily,

Great job thinking like an investigator and looking at your fingerprints in this activity. Did you learn something about using science to solve crime?

It’s awesome that you managed to figure out your fingerprint is a whirl pattern. I found it really tricky because the patterns are all so similar, but I think mine is a loop pattern.

I agree with Ruby, The background picture does look like the ocean and sand! That's really cool and you could even use that image to make an awesome piece of beach themed art!

I hope you enjoyed this activity. Keep up the awesome and creative mahi.

    Ngā mihi,
    Lauren
